Although there are hundreds of women’s magazines out there, only a handful like Marie Claire has really gained international repute. First published in France in 1937 by founders Jean Prouvost and Marcelle Auclair, Marie Claire is now one of the biggest women’s publications in the world, distributing in 24 languages to all corners of the planet. The Groupe Marie Claire publishes the French editions, with Hearst Corporation in the US, IPC Media in the UK and Pacific Magazines in Australia.
Marie Claire comes out monthly, covering issues in fashion, health, beauty and lifestyle. The magazine’s covers have been graced by numerous celebrities and famous personalities, both male and female. Marie Claire’s current editor for France is Arnaud de Contades, Anne Fulenwider for the US, Marie O’Riordan for the UK and Jackie Frank for Australia. The magazine also has a reality show featuring its New York City interns called, “Running in Heels”.
